University of Malta Engineering Students Learn from AX Construction Restoration Team’s Site Visits

Students from the Master of Engineering (Engineering with Management) course at the University of Malta are immersing themselves in real-world restoration techniques as part of their Project Systems 1 module.

The students have now expanded their learning with a visit to the LuginsLand of Art restoration site in Rabat, following their recent opportunity to ascend to various parts of the Jesuits’ Church in Valletta and observe the intricate restoration work up close led by AX Construction Restoration Manager Mr Fabio Billi. The latest site visit provided students with valuable insights into the complex techniques used in architectural conservation, material preservation, and heritage restoration. Both site visits have offered these future engineers a first-hand view of the expertise and precision required to protect and restore Malta’s cultural landmarks, further solidifying AX Construction’s commitment to education and heritage preservation in partnership with the University of Malta.

These practical experiences are shaping the students’ understanding of conservation principles and modern restoration practices, equipping them with the skills and knowledge essential to the future of sustainable construction and cultural heritage management.
