AX Construction Welcomes University Students to Explore Innovation and Heritage
Last month, students from the University of Malta’s Architecture and Development courses had the rare opportunity to witness the blending of tradition and innovation through site visits to two remarkable AX Construction projects.
Preserving Heritage: A Closer Look at St John’s Co-Cathedral
Students from the Master’s in development course visited the ongoing restoration works at St John’s Co-Cathedral, one of Malta’s most treasured cultural landmarks. Led by AX Group’s Restoration Division, the tour provided an in-depth exploration of the meticulous processes involved in preserving Malta’s architectural heritage. Students gained insight into the intricate balance between safeguarding historic structures and implementing modern conservation techniques, all while navigating the challenges of maintaining authenticity.
Innovating for the Future: The Verdala Terraces
First-year Architecture students from the Bachelor of Science module ‘Introduction to Forms of Construction’ at the Department of Construction and Property Management toured the construction site of The Verdala Terraces. This residential project is a showcase of sustainable building practices and cutting-edge architectural innovation.
The visit, led by Perit Vince Saydon on behalf of AX Construction Ltd, provided students with a comprehensive overview of the construction processes. The project is being carried out under the supervision of C&K Architecture. Students gained practical exposure to contemporary construction techniques, project management, and the importance of integrating environmental responsibility with innovative design.

These educational visits exemplify AX Group’s dedication to fostering the next generation of leaders in construction, architecture, and development. By bridging academic learning with real-world application, AX Group reinforces its role as a key player in both preserving Malta’s historical identity and shaping its future built environment.
Beyond providing hands-on experiences, these initiatives highlight AX Group’s commitment to nurturing talent within the construction industry. Students left the sites with a deeper appreciation of the complex interplay between tradition and innovation, empowered to approach their studies with fresh inspiration and practical understanding.
